Date: 6/29/2016
Name: Atashi wa Atashi no Mama de
Format: CD / MP3
Singer: Niiyama Shiori
Background: 8th single
Tracklist:
(1) あたしはあたしのままで
(2) 恋の中
Song Commentary:
Despite being one of the younger rising singer-songwriters, Shiori has husky and steadfast vocals. Combine that with a minimal amount of backing band instruments and the occasional strings; this all provides for a very melancholy experience when listening to track 1.
[Extra] Writer's Thoughts:
Niiyama was one of the first girls I locked onto when I entered my (short lived) acoustic-music-only phase and I'm still very attached to her. This new release of her's isn't very different from her first few releases, if not a bit more complex musicality wise. It's good to see her sticking to her debut sound, though who knows how long that'll last as she progresses in her career.
